Perry Wallace was the first black athlete to play under scholarship in the Southeastern Conference. He played basketball for Vanderbilt 1967 – 1970, and in 2004, his #25 jersey was retired. He also was elected into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
Wallace’s life story will be portrayed in a play this fall. A stage reading of the script will be open to the public, March 7th, free of charge.
